Everyone loves chicken strips. They are the go-to food when you’re at a restaurant and don’t know what to order off the menu. Sometimes it can be embarrassing to order chicken strips when you're with a group of people. With this simple recipe, you can make chicken strips from the comfort of your home and not have to worry about people judging you for liking this “kid” meal!

You can never be too old for chicken tenders. They are a super easy weeknight meal for when you have homework or studying to do. Not to mention, they are so much healthier than getting frozen chicken strips from the grocery store.

Using an air fryer is a huge time saver as it takes only about 20 minutes to cook these crunchy tenders!

Ingredients:

  • 1lb chicken tenders (about 7 tenders)

  • 3 eggs (I used large-size eggs)

  • ½ cup of flour

  • ½ tbs salt (any salt)

  • ½ pepper

  • ½ garlic powder

  • ½ cup of breadcrumbs (I used Italian breadcrumbs but you can sub this with Panko)

You can use any spices to mix with the breadcrumbs such as lemon pepper, etc! That’s the great thing about this recipe, you can use different seasonings each time you cook these tenders depending on what you’re in the mood for.

Recipe Directions:

  1. Preheat the air fryer at 400 for 3-5 minutes.

  2. Add the flour in one bowl, beat the eggs in another bowl, and mix the breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and garlic on a plate.

  3. Dip both sides of each tender in the flour, then in the eggs, and lastly in the breadcrumb mixture.

  4. Put the chicken tenders in the air fryer basket at 400 degrees for 8 minutes. After the 8 minutes are done, flip the tenders and cook for 7 minutes at 370 degrees. I could only fit 5 tenders at once, so I had to repeat this step with the leftover 3 tenders.

Prep time: Less than 10 minutes

Cook time: 15 minutes

These chicken tenders can be served with a variety of sides, but my favorite is mac and cheese! You can also make your own dip to go with this recipe like a homemade honey mustard sauce. I was lazy and just used my store-bought Ken's Steak House honey mustard dressing.

I rate this recipe a 10/10 and I hope you do, too! These chicken tenders are the perfect comfort food with a crispy outside and a white, juicy inside. I’m saying goodbye to frozen chicken strips, how about you?
